Our Mission The mission of the Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company shall be to provide cost-effective fire-prevention, fire suppression, rescue and related emergency and community services to the Town of McCandless, consistent with the town's changing safety needs as it grows.
Company Profile As one of the three companies within the Town of McCandless, we service approximately 30,000 residents. Our township spans roughly 16.4 square miles or 3100 acres. Your emergency fire and rescue services in the Town of McCandless are not provided by paid firefighters. If they were, your taxes would be that much higher. Dedicated volunteers provide such services. They carry pagers that - when activated interrupt a work day, family time, a warm meal, or sleep. These volunteers put their lives on hold, and on the line, at a moment's notice to help those in need. Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company
Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company is located at 1391 Duncan Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (beside the La Roche College baseball fields). Our station houses four pieces of apparatus. We have matching twin engines, one of which is also a rescue truck that is equipped with the most up-to-date heavy rescue tools and equipment. Still in service is a 1953 Mack convertible fire engine. Our Mack engine is used mostly for public service details such as parades. Peebles meets on Tuesday evenings for training and we hold our business meetings the 3rd Tuesday of the month.
